Applying A Canadian Work Permit

Unless you have got an open work permit, work permits are specific to an employer. If a worker wants to change employers, they must obtain a new Work Permit prior to performing another job in Canada. Canadian work permits are also limited in duration.


Open Work Permit Canada
An open work permit varies from a regular work permit in that it does not stipulate a specific job or employer. In general, the job and employer are both indicated on Canadian work permits, thereby limiting the holder to those circumstances while in Canada. The holder of an open work permit is allowed to work for any employer in Canada, in almost any capacity.
Open work permits do not necessitate the applicant to have either an offer of employment or a positive LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment).
